Comprehensive Pilates Mat Instructor Training 
Comprehensive Pilates Mat Instructor training provides the next generation of Pilates instructors with the in-depth understanding required to become a fitness professional. With a PMA Pilates Certified Mat credential, you are beginning your path to becoming an expert in a professional form of sports training and physical rehabilitation. You will learn not only how to create and instruct the classical Pilates Matwork and repertoire, but also how to modify the classical work for safety and common pathologies such as back pain.
Apart from these general objectives, you will learn:
- Repertoire ordering for effective training
- Basic assessment skills: How to determine a client's level and pick appropriate work
- Specific and appropriate cueing and tactile skills
- Coaching skills: When is it appropriate to push a client to the next level
- Basic Anatomy
- Job Search Skills
Prerequesites
- Fitness background: this can be an avid love of exercise to a professional career
- 20 hours of Pilates mat classes
Requirements for Pilates Mat Certification
- 40 hours in class instruction in a small and personal group setting
- 15 hours of observation: watch the professionals teach in order to hone your skills
- 35 hours independent study: this is you doing Pilates mat work for yourself
- 25 hours apprentice teaching: the setting needs to be approved by your instructor
- Each class time is from 10am-6pm for a total of 40 hours
